"I use Skype almost everyday. I have been using Skype since
September 2003 and have been very pleased and excited each
time a new version comes out. I have DUALPhone so I am not
attached to my computer while talking on the phone and I
love it! I can sit in my back yard in England and call my dad (using SkypeOut) who is driving a tractor
in Kansas and talk for hours for only pennies a minute. And going the
other way... my family can call me (using my SkypeIn number)
with there regular cell phone, plans that have free
weekend nation wide long distance, and I answer it here in
England. And another cool thing... when my wife and I are
out traveling we have our Skype calls forwarded to our
mobile phone so we can receive calls from family and
friends any time. It has worked wonders helping me stay in
touch with my family and friends while I have been
stationed overseas.
One thing though... Skype is promoting military use but the
military is hindering it. The base I currently work on has
a very strong 'smart' filter so that people using the
network cannot surf to unauthorized sites. It
automatically blocks certain sites that it recognizes with
certain key words. Skype.com is blocked. I am guessing
this is the same for every single base in USAFE but I am
not sure."
