Before the
advent of the 286/386 PC computer that allowed a revolution in
war gaming in the 1990s, there were (and still are) a number of
very interesting and very addictive military strategy games.
Some were board games, such as the popular Axis & Allies,
by Avalon Hill. And others were computer games, such as those by
Strategic Simulations, Inc. (SSI), designed for systems such as
the Amiga, Commodore 64/128 and the Apple IIe/IIc computers.
(The owner of MilitarySpot.com fondly remembers playing SSI's
Battle of the Bulge: Tigers in the Snow on his Apple IIe.)
And of course, there were the popular board games
such as Stratego, Battleship, Risk, and
Tank Battle!
